THE WATROUS PT STORY
For thirty years, Ilene Watrous, PT MA, has been changing the way people think about physical therapy. No impersonal get-in-get-out service, no elaborate machines - just what works.
Ms. Watrous spends over an hour providing hands-on treatment to each patient, every session. She uses a holistic process that integrates several different forms of hands-on physical therapy for effective and lasting healing. Her approach is a combination of Advanced Dynamic Anatomy, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and therapeutic exercise, supplemented with a unique combination of The Trager Approach, Craniosacral Therapy, Strain/Counterstrain, and Primal Reflex Technique.
Watrous PT has successfully restored range of motion to arthritic and frozen shoulder patients, increased sensation for patients suffering from multiple sclerosis, and reduced pain for fibromyalgia and migraine headache patients, among other applications.
Ilene Watrous graduated with a B.S. in Physical Therapy from Boston University and a M.A. in Physical Therapy from NYU Medical Center, and since then she has studied diverse techniques in physical treatment. She is a certified practitioner in and has worked with the founder of The Trager Approach, a unique form of movement reeducation. She is certified in both Biodynamic and Upledger Craniosacral techniques and approach, which is instrumental in relieving headaches, spinal pain, and injuries that do not respond to other modalities. Ilene is also skilled in Strain/Counterstrain, a technique which speeds healing of musculoskeletal injuries. She also has extensively studied the Primal Reflex Release Technique, which speeds healing by down-regulating primary reflexes that are primary factors in the pain response. In addition, Ilene has attended over 50 seminars in over 30 years as a Physical Therapist. Her treatments combine these approaches, her studies, experience, and devotion to excellence in patient care for a maximally effective session.
